There’s No Place Like Home

Have you ever had one of those days where everything seems to go wrong from the time your feet hit the floor in the morning? Say you have an appointment and you are there on time, then they tell you that you are there on the wrong day. No, no I’m not. They double check. Oh, so you are here on the right day. Well, the lady you need to see isn’t here today. WHAT. Are you kidding? Yeah, it’s been THAT day. So that’s why this plaque I made is appropriate for the situation. Because I just wanted to go home. I had other errands to run but was too mad, confused, maybe a little disoriented.

It started out as this:
 rose
I found this rose picture at TJMaxx on clearance for $1. It’s one of those that doesn’t have glass and the picture is glued right onto the hardboard. I didn’t know what I was going to do with it when I bought it but it was a $1!  I removed the staples off the back…

and used Mod Podge to apply the coordinating paper directly to the other side of the hardboard. Nobody was going to see the rose on the back anyway.

I used paint.net to write “There’s no place like Home”. It took me 40 tries to get it how I wanted it. I hot glued the board back into the frame. I thought it still needed something so I added the key last with hot glue. I love keys. This is the only skeleton key that I own. It goes to a chiffarobe that my mom gave to me, that was given to her by a sweet little lady, about 27 years ago. It was an antique back then!

Don’t worry, I won’t be needing the key, the lock on the chiffarobe has been broken for years. ;)
P.S.  I'm also having issues with blogger. It doesn't seem to matter that I wrote this post in Live Writer because when I went back into blogger to edit, it messed everything up! Just add it to my day.

that is too cute! my favorite saying! You did a great job.
Blogger and Windows live writer do NOT like each other! I've been having a terrible time. HUGE spaces between pics. Huge spaces between text, and lots of other bugss! grrr it's enough to make me look for a chocolate bar!

It turned out beautifully. I get the best ideas from bloggers. I would have passed up that rose...now I will think differently.
