Star Treatment

Yesterday was a yucky day. It was dreary and rainy. Since I was stuck in the house, I finally took the time to go through the treasures junk that I had stored in boxes. I had no intention of making anything. My goal was to get things cleaned up. But then I had an idea…and I couldn’t stop thinking about it. I bought this mirrored star a few weeks ago at Lowe’s. I found it in the lighting department. It’s supposed to go on the ceiling around a light fixture. It was clearanced to $4.98, down from $19.98!

The star had a hole in the center (since it was intended to go around a fixture) so I super glued a clear gem from the inside. I would have a preferred a tiny mirror, but the gem worked out fine.
jewel
I cut the cardboard to fit, covered it with a piece of canvas drop cloth(I used spray glue) then super glued it in a square frame. This frame I have had for several years but the glass got broke before I could ever use it. I have no idea why I kept it because that happened way before I started making things out of EVERYTHING! But it worked perfect for this project!
glue
I needed a way to attach the star to my canvas. I figured that hot glue was not going to hold it. My husband suggested wire. I dug around in my tool box and found some thin wire that worked perfectly.
I twisted the wire around each point of the star and made two small holes in the canvas with a large needle (where each point was going to be).

I stuck the wire through the holes and twisted it on the other side to secure the star.

I really like how it turned out! It’s clean, fresh and simple!

I have been working on some furniture pieces that I can’t wait to show you! Stay tuned, as I will be posting about them throughout the week!

OMG! My sister and I bought some of those same stars on clearance! She bought 3 and I bought 1. We were so excited when we saw them. We haven't decided what we're going to do with ours yet, but I'll pass on your idea. Thanks for sharing!!!
