Picture Stands

I got this wonderful and fabulous idea from the creative girls at Shanty to Chic! (The link is to their home page…this way you look at ALL there beauties!) This is where I got my inspiration!….
shanty joy

I loved their Joy signs SO much…but I wanted some thing I could use year round! So this is what I made!
Here is some pictures you might find helpful in understanding how I put these together…
002
First I painted and distressed every thing! The Scrolly pattern I just painted on with a paint marker! The boards have coats of magnetic primer under the cream paint. Let me tell you that magnetic paint it not so awesome! I gave them 5 coats and I STILL had to use STRONG magnets on these! So here is all the pieces…now…
007
I screwed a screw into the unpainted end of the “plug” I made from a slice of a dowel rod…
008 009
Then screwed the plug into the marked middle of my board. Now all you have to do is pop it into a candle holder…like so…
010 011
You can glue this in if you want it permanent…I, loving change, did not.
012
Screw in your finial and your good to go!
038
You can put pictures on them!! Or….this is why I made mine magnetic….
042
You can pop any thing under the magnet for all seasons and holidays! This is what I will be keeping on here for Easter!
045
The Easter Greeting from Lion Coffee and the Easter cross I printed off of The Graphics Fairy…The picture of eggs I got from Cora at Heart Felt and Homemade !

They look fabulous! Great tute! I have used the magnetic paint also. I find it takes MANY coats. I think mine didn't too so well, cause I didn't "roll" it. (that's what mine recommended)
good luck in my giveaway!

Very cute! I love the scrolls you painted! I'd have to use rub-ons because I am not artistic in any way.

I stumbled upon your blog while doing some blogstalking this morning.
I remember seeing those on Shanty's site a few months back. I love how you made them for displaying them all year round.
