I took a wooden candlestick from the thrift store and a unfinished shadowbox from Hobby Lobby($3.99 but I used a coupon),
glued them together using epoxy and added a finial to the top. I painted the whole thing white then glazed it using Ralph Lauren Smoke Glaze. I chose a page from an old Broadman Hymnal for my background, distressed it and glued it on the back.
I used this great roller thingy that I picked up at the thrift store to remove the air bubbles. I have no idea what it was originally intended for. But it works. So I use it. For the nest, I hot glued a clump of Spanish Moss (from the Dollar Tree) on to the paper.
I made the bird eggs from clay. Seriously, the easiest thing I’ve ever made… take a glob of clay and roll it in your hand. Done.
After they baked and cooled, I painted them blue (not quite as easy as it was to make them), added brown speckles (using Crafty Sisters’ toothbrush technique), then glazed them to tone down the blue a little bit.
I decided that my shadow box needed more. I went scrounging around the house, looking at scrap fabric and digging through old jewelry. I went with lace, a locket and buttons. I do that on almost all my projects…add one more thing, one more thing.
This silver locket was a gift to me, from my mom, on my 13th birthday. It’s tarnished and beautiful.
I made the little birdie on top from clay, too. Again, easy.
I think it looks vintage and I love it.

Ok you are going to grow so tired of my comments... but all I can ever say is "L.O.V.E" seriousely, you gals blow me away... just to shake things up a bit, I'm gonna change up my usual "love" comment to this, "really really extremely beyond a shadow of a doubt with all my little heart totally for sure like this a ton!"
There. That wasn't too difficult :)

I love that you used the finial. I work at a pottery shop and we sell ceramic finials to go on our lamps. A man came in and asked if the word finial was made up. We couldn't help but laughing.
