Irish Blessings

I've never really liked St. Patrick's Day. Maybe it's all the bright, green everything everywhere or the fact that, in elementary school, I was the one that took the pinching when I forgot to wear green that day. Sad, I know.
But this year, I decided to get in on the blog fun and make a little something to sit on my counter for a few days, just so I can store it away for a whole year. At least it's not huge.
This, I can handle.
I started with a 25¢ plaque from the thrift store.
Oh my. Crafts sure have come a long way since 1982. And I have about 6 more of these! I buy them when I find them. My question is, why are there so many of them?! Was this the thing for everyone to make back then?? Nice.
I painted it black then printed an Irish Blessings poem (appropriate, I thought) onto some cream paper and glued it to the front. Traced around a cardstock clover that I had (it was that horrible bright green color or else I would have just used it) onto scrapbook paper. I cut it out and distressed the edges using my Distress Ink.
I knew I was going to add the ribbon and buckle, but thought it still needed something. So I cut a smaller clover and glued it on the top of the larger one, leaving the edges unglued so they'd give the dimensional look.
The little buckle came from, where else, the thrift store and the "belt" is just ribbon.
I like it so much that I may leave it out past Easter....we'll see.

CUTENESS! I agree. St. pattys is so not my holiday, but i am "going green" this year and making some treats for hubby's work :)

Thanks for sharing your Alfredo recipe. I heart alfredo sauce so much! Looking forward to trying your ingredient list and making my own :)
